I am a retired farmer who now consults on smallholding, rural matters, specialising in rare breeds. My wife is a teacher. I also write on all matters rural and have written a book.

We are looking for a cottage with large garden and some land for my rare breed pigs, cattle and sheep. We are quite happy to rent or part rent in exchange for work, payment in kind or to work full time looking after your animals. In other words, we are open to all suggestions and to look at all options.

We are not too concerned with modern fittings and are looking for a long term let, where we can settle our family. To go somewhere I could give up office work and work on a farm would be great, although we are both currently Employed full time! We have cats and chickens, and would ideally like to expand our little animal family.

What would be nice for us is a landlord that wouldn't mind us working on the property/house. We are very loyal and honest tenants with an extremely well behaved son and friendly well behaved cats (and chickens) We have excellent references if required. We pay competitive rental rates, look forward to hearing back from someone soon.

Ideally looking for a 1-2 acre site with a water standpipe for the start up of a small Eco-retreat. preferably with easy access from main road.

Everything on the site is intended to be environmentally friendly with as little disruption to the the local flora and fauna as possible.

It would consist of 4 guest huts each accommodating 2 guests and one semi-permanent hut for on-site management.

Additionally would be growing vegetables on site, as well as keeping a small contingent of chickens and bees.

We have been trying to find an understanding and sympathetic landlord/landlady who can understand that because we are UNABLE to work full time and need benefits to help support us that we would be a bad tenant due to being on benefits, the simple truth to this is that due to our situation we are unable to lose a job due to not being in employment so therefore our income will stay the same, we are entitled to full housing benefit and this will not change, unlike if I was in employment at this very unstable time and at risk of losing my job and then not being able to pay the rent. We also show dogs, so the need for a suitable garden is essential as you can understand. We would be happy to pay the deposit and we would also be happy for you to hold a separate deposit to assure you that our dogs are of the uttermost behaved and trained, so we would be happy to supply you with this additional deposit, we would need to apply for housing benefit due to our circumstances. We are looking for a smallholding to rent cheaply in exchange for general work around a farm/housework. We are a young family with a 4 year boy. We want to give him a wonderful life growing up on a farm helping and teaching him about becoming self sufficent, surrounded by nature and animals.

I am currently at university studying Textile. My partner is a designer, and has many physical and mental skills. His work takes him around the country, so for most of the week it just me and our son. We are looking for a educational and working lifestyle even just to lighten the load or keep a farm running, and hopefully in exchange for cheap accommodation.

Detached secluded cottage in rural location in West Wales wanted under "Rent to Own" legal agreement. Preferably with some land. Condition not important as long as habitable and in right location. ("Rent to Own" is a legally binding agreement drawn up by solicitors in much the same way as a traditional conveyance is done.The agreement is that the tenant will buy the property for an agreed sum at the end of a specific period of time to be agreed with both parties. During the term of the agreement the tenant will continue to pay rent to the landlord plus an additional premium which will serve as an accumulating deposit for the purchase. At the appropriate time the sale will go ahead in the normal way. If the tenant cannot proceed with purchase at the designated time the landlord has the right to sell to someone else, the tenant leaves the property, and the landlord will keep the rent AND additional premiums paid during the period so will not have lost out in any way.) I can see this proposition being attractive to someone who may have a property to sell and who doesn't need the sale proceeds to purchase another property eg. selling a second property, or maybe wanting to get out of a holiday letting business etc. The advantage to the vendor is that they know they already have a buyer with an already agreed fixed price (property prices are gradually decreasing), and they are receiving an income during the period. The advantage to the tenant is that they are not paying out "dead money" in rent which they could have been saving towards a deposit and they will eventually own their home. In our current national economic situation where property sales have slowed down, and it becoming increasingly difficult for new buyers to "get onto the property ladder", this is a method of property purchase which is anticipated will gain popularity.

My family of three are looking for a new home. My partner does complimentary therapy, I am hands-on practical skilled as well as a financial background. My daughter is three and will start school next year. Oh and we have a wolf dog and currently live in a converted Russian military truck.

We have just returned from travels and are looking for a place outside London that can offer healthy, hard working living, opportunity to have chickens and goats, develop a permaculture project and fruit-tree farm for a start-up business in London. 2/3 bed ideal. It can be a project building (neglected state) as we live happily in the truck. Minimum 2 acres of land. If renting then 700pm is all we can presently afford until the business kicks in.

Property With Potential!?

We are looking for a flexible property with potential!

Between us we are potter, artist, gardener, conservationist and chef. Involved in Community activism, running workshops and busy with sustainable green projects, like transition town movement, incredible edible and landmark education.

The ideal is a property that has income potential either through adjoining cottage lets or space to build a business, for example scope to develop workshop spaces. We are also open to having the chance to renovate or build a new home.

Other requirements are:

A landscape of rolling hills, Or near the coast please? West Country (not Cornwall), Welsh Marches, Home Counties and South Anglia considered. Recently honed our search into Herford/Glostertershire region. Please we have no interest in mid and coastal wales! On that, if anyone can answer why so many responses are from folk selling in Wales let me know? i'm curious!:)

At least 5 acres, will pay up to £700k if property is ready to move into and fits our needs, this will be a cash buy. We would love to move in by mid Summer 2012.

A property that is reasonably close to train station with good links to London.

Ideally one that has woodland and possibly own water supply.

Land that is good for growing a small mixed market garden and that is organic.

In a community with interesting projects and good solid community feel.

If we are not renovating then a mix of period (pre Victorian) and modern is ideal or perhaps barn conversions.

Small Holding with land for a sanctuary for rescued animals of abuse and cruelty

It is in desperation that our charity has to place this wanted advert.

We are the only UK based and UK registered charity that focuses not only the plight of victims of animal abuse,cruelty and abandonment in the United Kingdom but also in Romania.

We have been rescuing,careing for and rehoming these poor angels since 2007.

In reference to Romania, the animals lives in Romania is horrific enough (lack of animal protection law etc) they are now facing even more terror with a new law that will be introduced in 2 weeks time allowing litterally the massacre of thousands of animals (many will be puppys and pregnant dogs) every month.

We are in desperate need of a small holding type property preferably with 2-3 bed and enough land to construct 15 Kennels and to exercise the animals we rescue prior to finding them forever homes here in the UK or elsewhere.

The animals themselves would be housed in their kennels and exercised away from the property. The property itself would be purely for accomodation for our manager and carer of the animals in our care.

We obviously need as low rent as possible, anything from £300 pcm - £500 pcm would be preferable but even slightly higher we would consider.

We would hope for at least a 12 month tenancy possibly with the option to buy in the future.

The urgency cannot be stressed enough, and we are hoping that someone out there would consider us as tenants and allow us to continue our work that is so desperately needed to be continued.
