Household waste is piped into a double-chambered septic tank with filtration bed and storage tank with a pump for re-using filtered water for garden irrigation. There is a 2x3m toolshed attached to the house on the northern side, with adjacent dog kennel. A larger storage shed is built over the main cisterna, along with the battery den. The land belonging to the property totals just under 1 hectare and supports productive olive, almond, fig and carob trees, plus vegetable gardens and flower beds. No chemicals have been used for over 10 years: the soil is enriched by the applicaton of manure, garden compost and seaweed. Beaches are 20 minutes away by car, Reus airport 45 minutes and Barcelona, 150 kilometres distant, is easily reached by road or rail.
